2012 DAKAR
Report＃10 “Stage 6 Canceled”
January 6(Local date), Stage 6 canceled due to the part of today’s course in Andean Cordilleras covered by snow. The organizer aborted the race in SS, because their logistic car couldn’t move from the influence of the snow.
Today’s schedule was changed and moved to the next bivouac place 600km away and all teams passed the crests by other route to Copia of Chile.
Jun lost a good chance to catch up the top runner it was unfortunate for him. The Rally is the game against mother nature and it can’t be helped. He will do it for sure tomorrow .
There was no reason to hurry and the team went at an easy pace but the power of team appeared evident under such circumstances. Race cars start moving some hours before the support cars do. Jun arrived at Copia around 5:00 PM(Local time) and his team joined him just 30 minutes after.
Many race cars waited their crews alone. There is no doubt that the bond of Jun and his crews are very strong.
The bivouac place of Copiapo is the famous for the mining accident in 2010. Jun will run the loop stage tomorrow. The day after tomorrow is off, thus the team stay for 3 days here. Lots of Rally fans came to see the race and they cheered for Jun too. Many vendors opened shops and people were excited and in a festival mood.
Jun will take on a challenge the last and hardest battle for the first half of the Rally from this gaiety place tomorrow.
